Adolf Emile Juers

(06/16/1870 – 05/06/1956)

Adolf Emile Juers (who, from my place in the family tree, is my great-grandfather) has a history shrouded in a bit of mystery.  There’s a prominent rumor he was not actually a Juers when he immigrated to the United States (from Hamburg, Germany).  The rumor is, he actually had the surname Von Mundin (or something similar).  The rumor continues on, that the surname Juers was given to him at Ellis Island, after he was expelled from his very wealthy family, for having taboo relations with a maidservant.  Makes for a good movie, anyway!

All the historical images I got from Uncle Harry have slowly been helping me make connections, dot the I’s & cross the T’s; but this rumor still hasn’t proven itself to me on paper.  Although, it’s interesting to see how well they were dressed, for 1920’s New York immigrants, anyway.

The more I look at these images, whose commonality is that they all have Adolf &/or Anna in them, the more I hope to identify certain other people in the pictures.  Clearly we need more pictures.
